CETRA BASE has been declard as winner of the Galileo Masters Madrid 2021 Prize. The reason: “Optimization of Galileo PRS asset handling: An innovative way to build more accessible PRS receivers”.

The Galileo Masters is the global innovation competition scouting for cutting-edge solutions using satelllite navigation data organized by AZO Anwendungszentrum GmbH Oberpfaffenhofen with the support of ESA, EUSPA and European Commission.

The Galileo Public Regulated Service (PRS), the flagship service of Galileo, is an encrypted navigation service for governmental users and sensitive applications. It offers high resilience to jamming and spoofing, thus ensuring continuity of service in times of crisis.

The PRS receivers currently on the market are inefficient in terms of PRS asset handling. As a consequence, they are complex and very expensive.

Our solution proposes a disruptive design making receivers simpler while retaining the robustness of the encrypted premium service.

This fact will make PRS receivers more accessible to authorised users by drastically reducing their cost.

"It is encouraging to see that so many talented and motivated people participated once again in the Galileo Masters, despite the pandemic. This show the great scientific and entrepreneurial potential in Europe", said Timo Pesonen, Director General, Directorate General for Defence Industry and Space, European Commission.

"This year is special for us because the agency contributes to Galileo Masters - for the first time - under its name, European Union Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA). Galileo Masters are an opportunity to reinforce links with the space applications community and to celebrate the efforts of those who raise the EU Space innovation bar higher every year with thier ground-breaking applications", said Rodrigo da Costa, Executive Director, EUSPA.

We would like to express our gratitude to the organizers of this competition, we have nothing but good words for Fundación para el Conocimiento madri+d and AZO Anwendungszentrum GmbH Oberpfaffenhofen for their involvement and excellent support.
